We are an IT recruitment company, so most of our knowledge is centred on the IT market.

Many foreign companies have set up IT operations in Hungary in recent years. Additionally, numerous small, locally owned hi-tech, innovative companies have also sprung up, many of them acting as suppliers to multinational firms rather than serving the local Hungarian market.

There is currently a shortage of experienced IT experts in Hungary (well, just like everywhere), particularly ones possessing advanced communication skills in foreign languages. English skills are particularly sought after, whilst many firms seek IT experts proficient in the languages of Hungary’s neighbouring countries.

While IT salaries in Hungary are lower than in North America or Western Europe they are among the highest paying jobs in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe as a whole and, have recently been rising quickly. An experienced programmer can earn from €25,000-35,000 per annum which, taking into account the local property prices and cost of living can mean a relatively high disposable income.

Here's a general English language site on living in Hungary and first steps.

The easiest way to find a job is to look at the job portals. If the advertisement is in English, than you can certainly try applying, however, unfortunately most of the time Hungarian is needed too, being obvious for the advertiser... The reason for placing the ad in English is to make sure only English speaking candidates apply. Here's a list of job portals:
